AI Seed Crowned Winner at UKBAA Awards

AI Seed kept its winning ways by walking off with Exit of the Year accolade at the 2025 UKBAA Angel Investment awards following its successful exit with Observe Technologies. Observe Technologies was sold to Norwegian-based AKVA, the world's largest supplier of technology and services to the global aquaculture industry. AI Seed was recognised for its investment approach and exit strategy delivering an 8 x return on their initial pre-seed investment.
The UKBAA awards are an annual event that celebrates the success and high performance in the angel and early stage investment market, recognising founders, angels and pre-seed venture capital investors who are behind some of the fastest growing brands in the UK. Scooping the prize from heavy competition continues to seal AI Seed’s position as an expert AI investment fund, with a focus on vertical AI to deliver handsome returns.
Commenting on this award, Michael Axelgaard, Managing Partner at AI Seed, said:
“The Observe Technologies exit is special and we are delighted to have been recognised for it by UKBAA. To be awarded this amongst our peers is fantastic. This exit shows how you can get strong returns from vertical AI applications in hitherto low tech industries that perhaps don’t attract initial attention. The team at Observe had a full grip on how AI could provide significant value to customers, staying focused on adapting their technology to solve problems and improve environmental conditions for the salmon farms.
“Having developed the technology and scaled the business to becoming the only AI player in the aquatic farming industry, Observe Technologies became a very attractive proposition. In seeking a buyer, AKVA rapidly emerged as the favourite with their aligned business services and how they would continue to develop the inhouse AI application.”
